A Rejuvenating Journey…

This is the island to the south of the mainland that often gets ignored. However, Tasmania should not be missed and wins lots of international attention. According to experienced travellers who’ve wandered the globe Tasmania has one of the world’s top ten beaches – Wineglass Bay , the world’s best little town – Strahan , is rated as the best island in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific and is also rated the world’s best temperate island.

Tasmania is rich in history, has wonderful food and wines, friendly people and much to offer in such a small space. Hobart is the capital city, and has heritage Bed and Breakfast accommodations in which to stay, great markets to explore and even the original Cadbury Chocolate Factory you can visit! Much of the island is a World Heritage Area – the reason behind Tasmania’s reputation as Australia’s eco-tourism capital. It’s easy to reach – either via a 1 hour flight from Melbourne or an overnight trip on the car ferry from Melbourne or Sydney. You can climb a remote peak, set foot on isolated shores, meet amazing animals on your walking treks and even hug a Huon Pine – the World’s oldest trees. Breathe the world’s freshest air in an ancient rainforest. Trek, taste the freshest of foods, fish, fossick in the numerous antique shops, and stroll the streets – and much much more!

The Western region is one of the most rugged and spectacular areas in Australia and has many hiking trails. Both the 5 day trek from Lake St. Clair to Cradle Valley and the South West coastal path offer great walking. It’s easy to find your way around Tasmania and there are plenty of pleasant seaside towns and fishing villages to stay.

Hobart is only a direct flight from all Australian cities. An adventure holiday, for either couples or families that could easily soak up 8 days.
