The Wine Capital…

South Australia is Australia’s wine capital with 13 wine regions. Touring the wine regions is easy with self-drive trails, through the Adelaide Hills, Barossa, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek and Limestone Coast. Each area showcases local wineries, food producers and natural attractions. The state produces over 50% of Australia’s wines, and has a long history and many amazing cellar doors to visit and sample the local produce.

Adelaide is the capital of South Australia, and is known as the wine and festival city. It is one of the most stylish and elegant cities you’ll experience. With distinctive sandstone architecture, rolling hills, magnificent gum trees, pristine beaches, a lively nightlife, galleries, cafes, pubs, bookshops, shops, antique stores, and National Parks – it has much to offer to do and see.

Just 20 minute’s drive from Adelaide is the Adelaide Hills. There are magnificent properties, and gardens for you to explore. This area has abundant conservation and recreation parks.

Kangaroo Island is also worthwhile to visit. It is only a 40 minute ferry trip, or 30 minute flight from Adelaide away. The island is free from mainland animal pests, and thus boasts plentiful native wildlife in their natural habitat. Here you can walk amongst wildlife in natural surroundings, take expert guided tours, go bushwalking, bird watching, fishing, camping, cycling, boating and adventure caving.

A 5 hour drive north of Adelaide finds the Flinders Ranges - the gateway to the Outback. It is one of the oldest landscapes on earth with dramatic ridges and peaks, peaceful tree-lined gorges and after seasonal rainfall, brilliant splashes of wildflowers on a red soil.

Adelaide can be reached via a direct flight from all Australian cities. Combine Adelaide with trips to country South Australia and allow 5-7 days – or combine with another destination in Australia for a 2 week trip.
